The Sheepadoodle is not a pure breed dog, it’s a cross-breed. Like other cross breeds, it can inherit the best traits of both parent breeds. The name which alters “poodle” to “doodle” in reference to the Labradoodle was coined in 1992. First generation doodles tend to have added health benefits since they are the first in their line.
Shepadoodles originated in the U.S., as the US Army developed this breed in the 1960s as a military police dog. Poodles were originally bred in Germany as a water-dog for hunting water fowl while Shepherds were intended to herd sheep. The Shepadoodle is a hybrid and for that reason is not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) but it is registered with the American Canines Hybrid Club (ACHC).
The Old English Sheepdog: The Old English Sheepdog is a large breed of dog which was developed in England from early herding types of dog. And Sheepadoodle is also developed from the same breed. It’s very Playful, Adaptable, Bubbly and Intelligent dog breed.
The Poodle: The Poodle is not French originally as most think, though it was in France where the breed was developed further. The poodle is a group of formal dog breeds, the Standard Poodle, Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle. The origins of the poodles are still discussed with a dispute over whether the poodle descends from the old French Barbet breed or from Germany as a type of water dog.
The Sheepadoodle have sturdy, solid builds and are medium sized. The head has a broad look between the ears hanging down and on the overall the skull seems dome shaped. The dogs appear to have faces with black and brown feathered shaped eyes. It looks beautiful and soft hair with coats.
The ideal Sheepdogdoodle is well proportioned, muscular, and strong. Their puppies have the best of both breeds, and they are nearly 100% hypoallergenic with long and soft coats that range anywhere from straight to curly.
Colors: Sheepdogdoodle mainly come in black or black and white. Often times, the black will fade to gray or gray and white, similar to the Old English Sheepdog. Occasionally, Sheepapoos are born with a lot of white, or almost all white.
